Written Conversations


1.  Each will write simultaneous postings to each other about the reading selection on the blog, stopping the letter being written and going to the one written to you on Jennifer's signal.
2.   If you feel the urge to talk, write it down instead.
3.   The notes should be written like real, informal correspondence.
4.   Use greetings and don’t worry about spelling and grammar.


Helpful Written Conversation Strategies

·      Pay attention to what the other person is saying/writing
·      Give opinions and back them up
·      Use examples
·      Expand on your ideas
·      Connect your own experiences to the reading
·      Ask a lot of questions
·      Answer your partner’s questions with a lot of detail
·      Use the character’s names
·      Make predications
·      Express feelings
·      Say how the reading relates to the real world
·      Keep the conversation going by bringing up a new topic—don’t repeat the same thing over and over
·      Argue and disagree - but in a nice way
·      Talk about what you think is important
·      Refer to specific scenes/incidents
·      Comment on your partner’s ideas/opinions
