Claire & Gabe

  1. Dear Gabe,
In this section I thought that it was good that Jenny made Chris go home, and that he got some sleep. When he was talking to The Watcher I was disappointed because she didn't try to take his helping hand. I wonder what might make her not want to do anything and be so protective of herself. Since he talked to her, do you think that she is going to change and become more open? When she did look at him he said that "it was like they were screaming..." What do you think that he means by that. Why are they screaming?

  2. Hey Mom,
This section was not my favorite, although i have loved the whole book so saying it is not my favorite doesn't mean i didn't like it. Chris is an interesting character. His whole life is constantly being affected by a boy he never met. His father was once a amazing one, but when his brother died all that amazingness seemed to leave with him. I don't think its fair. Do you? Its like he doesn't get any love at all just because his dad is so sad about his dead brother. I think the the dad should be able to just pick himself up and give the same amount of love to Chris. I think his dads problems have spilled over to Chris, like drinking(a lot) when issues in life arise.
What roll do you think Jenny is playing in this story? She almost seems like the parent he never had, doing what parents are supposed to do; help your way through life. WHat do you think is going to happen between Chris and her in the future?

  3. Dear Gabe,
I agree that the father needs to shape up. He shouldn't treat hi son the way he does because he lost a son before. Now, I don't think that it would be easy for any parent to loose a child, but still they should pick themselves off of the floor and carry on with life because that is what his child needs. I do think that Jenny does act as a mother that he didn't have because she can tell he needs it. I don't know what their relationship might turn into, but right now it seems like he need to trust her with all of him and once he does that their relationship can grow. I think that, if and once he trusts her they could become best buds, and she could be the responsible parent, but I don't think that it will become any more than that, but I don't know.

  5. MOM!!!!,
I think that the screaming inside the watcher and later Chris is not something actually there but in both instances Chris can tell the true person is on the inside, not the physical appearance. I think he can tell that the watcher has something big inside her that she does need to let out and same with him, but what? I don't know. what do you think? Maybe it is the same thing they need to let out, maybe not. I think the watcher is not scared of Chris, but she is just surprised, as if a real angel came to her and started talking. How does this section relate to our lives?

  6. Gabe,
Ok... Ok. Yeah, I agree that maybe he could see the real person who is trying to show herself. Maybe, since everyone is talking about family, she and Chris BOTH have an abusive family. Perhaps. I can see how she would think that Chris was an angel because no one ever wants to talk to her, and when someone does, she thinks that he or she is God. I don't really know how how this would relate to our lives. I have never consciously encountered someone who is like The Watcher. But maybe I have, and didn't notice, like everyone else, that he or she is suffering in some way.

  7. CT,
I really hope Jenny and Chris' relationship doesn't turn into some yucky lovey-dovey poo, for there are plenty of book like that and this unique one definitely doesn't need any of that. I like your idea of trust but I think it needs to go both ways. Jenny needs to trust Chris too. Maybe they will become each others' siblings that they both have always wished they had/still had. Do you think at some point Chris will get on good terms with his dad? Will his story have a happy ending?

  8. Gabe,
I don't think that their relationship will turn gross. I don't think that they will become each others siblings, but I DO think that they will become LIKE each others siblings because they need it. I don't know about Chris and his dad. This story is so complicated that it doesn't seem like it will be able to end.

  9. Tinchy Cdog,
Yea i'm not sure i have met anyone like the watcher exactly, but i think i am a good bit like the watcher. Maybe not in school, but i like to quietly sit back from life and observe it. That's another reason i like this story much, because i can connect with the watcher. I had a grand time coversating with my own mother. Thanks
